Leave Your Dirty Magazine home

This is the story I was told on Sunday:
Someone had an adult magazine in his briefcase,
His boss saw it and this person was fired.

I would fire this employee as well if I were the manager.
Why would this person bring such a magazine to the office?
The magazine just doesn't fit the theme of professionalism,
and it will definitely make some people feel uncomfortable.

A CEO once told me he fired his successor,
because the successor was surfing obscene sites at work.
Not once, but several times.

Let say you just started working,
and you encounter some co-workers like those I described above.
Would you report them?

Unless I know what I say will get him sacked,
I wouldn't say anything--
because I have better things to do,
like getting advanced in my own career.

Just a warning given to this person is not enough.
I don't want to deal with the hostile treatment from others,
who may see the whisleblower as a back-stabber (an ethical one).

Not to mention being very, very stupid. I would wonder why the person couldn't keep his or her pornography at home, and would arrive at some unhappy conclusions.

In another job in a past life, we were allowed to use the Internet at work, as long as we got all of our other work done. But management made it very clear that not only were websites logged, but screens were randomly monitored -- management could pull up your screen to look at whenever they wanted to.

Guilty as charged! Last summer, I surfed and surfed non stop at work because I had nothing else to do. And then I used an explicit word in an email I sent from my work email address along with a complaint about one of my coworkers and the email got quarantined! I learned my lesson! No more off-topic surfing for me! P.S. I hope your exams are going well.
