A piece of graduation advice

I received this piece of advice from someone I respect.

Your judgment is better than my advice, so follow it.
But Shakespeare had some good advice you might want to follow:
“This above all, to thine own self be true.
And it must follow, as the night the day,
thou canst not then be false to any man.”

Based on the intrepretation I found on Dr. Irene's Site,
"Unless we can be true to ourselves first, we cannot be true to others."
