The importance of spell-check

As some of you may know, there's an organization called PBGC (Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation) which serves the purpose to monitor the US private pensions. Since it is related to pensions, it means that I come across this term a lot on a daily basis.

A few weeks ago, I was trying to send an email to the entire office regarding some PBGC matters. By default, the Outlook went through a round of spell-check before sending out the email.

Guess what, Outlook suggested that PBGC should be changed to "PUBIC". Luckily I was paying attention that time and I got to click on the ignor button so that the word "PBGC" was not being changed. Or else, the rest would be history and everybody in the office (or maybe the whole region) would wonder what I was talking about...(Pubic form? what is that?)

So make sure you don't just rely on the Outlook spellcheck to do the work. You may want to re-read what you wrote one more time to look for any mis-spelled/typo errors before you send out any email.
