Just a thought on leaving office early on Friday

Everyone at work got an email from the office head that the office would be closed at 3pm on Friday and we were told to enjoy our long Labor Day weekend.

This made me wonder:
Do people leave at 3pm even the office head said the office was closed at 3pm?

At 3.15pm, most of the people were still in the office and some of us are meeting deadlines.

It is a good gesture of telling the employees to leave early before a long weekend (especially if the company emphasizes on work-life balance).


However, to people who have a fixed billable-hour goal, it doesn''t matter. In a professional service firm, you are evaluated by how many hours of quality work you bill the clients, not by how many hours you sit in your cubicle.
