A senior consultant asked everyone at work to read this article since it's closely related to our field. Perhaps you read this article already. For those who haven't read this article, The Risk Pool by Malcolm Gladwell, it's worth a read. Gladwell did a good job in explaining the beginning of the pension problems we are seeing on newspapers now and he's a good storyteller. It's hard to find an article which touches some actuarial related topic and is easy enough to read. Maybe now you know why I used to fall asleep (sometimes) in my actuarial classes or reading some pension regulations books now.

Gladwell also had an interesting article on health practice available here: http://www.newyorker.com/printables/fact/050829fa_fact
It was well-written and thought-provoking, but I pretty much disagreed with all of his conclusions.
